With a memoir about her childhood on the horizon, Struby is taking her knowledge and experience on the road for speaking and reading engagements.

After leaving home at 17, Struby created a life all her own, and is ready to tell her stories and share what she's learned so far. Paying for college, coming out, staying closeted, living abroad, coming out queer, learning to love herself and her body, becoming genderific, leaving a career to play semi-pro soccer, going broke, falling in love, dancing in queer feminist burlesque drag troupes, writing writing writing... and all of that outside of her groundbreaking and inspiring day jobs.
Coordinating first the Women's Center at the University of Missouri, and then the LGBTQ Resource Center, she guided groups and spaces to be model programs not only of the midwest region and on college campuses, but nation-wide and among all levels of community activism and organizing.

Having turned 34, Struby's forthcoming memoir, "Zero to 17," guides readers lovingly and openly through her memories of her first 17 years, from 17 years later. Childhood sexual abuse, soccer, confusing and complicated messaging, friends, bullies, sports, the outside, and leaving it all behind. With both poetry and prose, Struby invites readers into her truths in this beautifully written, open, honest, funny, and vulnerable book long letter to us all.
